Some of Our Work

Presenting a variety of Friend+Sweet garden design projects

Dry Garden Magic

A dramatic, tropical garden of color, texture and structure.

Coastal Courtyard

A welcoming, colorful semi-formal Mediterranean courtyard replaces dated, water-gobbling lawn and birches.

Cloud Collection

Fog catches in the trees and rains down onto this garden, on top of a hill in San Francisco, a year-round micro-climate of mist and moisture. The upward-reaching fronds of giant tree ferns gently guide the eye to the city view in the background.

Contemporary Challenge

The steep slope of this front garden required careful attention to walls and grading. The garden reflects the clients’ eclectic mid-century taste.

Cape California

The classic east-coast architecture of this house in the Oakland hills served as inspiration for a garden that will be green and colorful yet water-conscious. Ever-blooming daylilies surround the existing recessed seating area, and cedar structures help to create the sense of an outdoor room in a front yard.

Bay-Bounded

This garden was designed for a house that faces San Francisco Bay, so it had to blend into the natural landscape and endure wind and salt spray.

Cottage Charmer

This eclectic garden frames a classic bay area craftsman home with flowers, lush foliage and culinary treats awaiting the explorer

Chic Containers

Container plantings add visual interest, create focal points, and allow you to have foliage where there is no open ground. The possibilities are endless with plant combinations, colorful glazes, and the ability to change with the seasons.
